About the Course
This nine-day workshop in London is designed especially for creative and forward thinking individuals who are interested in product design and development in the fast paced consumer electronics industry. The programme will focus on exploring design opportunities in relation to a user-based design scenario, a scenario that will relate to a consumer electronics product such a mobile phone, MP3 or any other new communication or entertainment technology. The aim of the programme is to provide you with a practical insight into current best practices in consumer product design and will help you to develop your skills in research and presentation. The programme will comprise a series of seminars introducing you to new design tools and issues, lectures on design, practical workshops and visits to places of interest for inspiration and research. You will experiment with this new knowledge in a supportive environment where mistakes and creativity will be celebrated. You will develop an understanding of European design trends, how to analyse and translate research into design concepts and how to identify and develop ideas through the use of user-centred techniques. At the end of the programme you will receive feedback and creative insights from the Central Saint Martins team and from an invited professional product designer.
