About the Course
Less. Less emphasis and less manipulation, less rhetoric and less tinsel, less reject and less waste; less, by choice or by destiny, in order to reconsider fundamental needs and essential forms. Gabi Scardi, critic and curator. Milan is the design city per excellence, acting as the main ambassador of the made in Italy throughout the world. The aim of this course is to take you on a journey of design discovery in the Mecca of Italian lifestyle, Milan. On this journey you will get an insight into Italian design history and present trends by visiting the major Italian companies, design studios and showrooms. Through furniture, interior, products and materials you will get in touch with the designers and their inspirations. The course will dig down to the heart of Italian design values, alternating lectures with visits to the best of the design industry. Shops, museums, art exhibitions, foundations and galleries, design studios, design hotels, lounges, restaurants and the rite of Milanese happy hour will all be explored, and with the help of exceptional lecturers you will discover the hidden city that each year hosts the most important design week in the world.
